The age old adage is that we always want what we can't have! This almost always holds true and for this owner, he demands nothing but the best and this is what we helped him achieve in this Audi A4. With a garage full of cool toys, the A4 is a good mix of practical and sporty. The car has quite a tuner following but in this case we are only going to concentrate on the audio part.
The car came from the factory with the single DIN CD player. Audi has various options for this car including the one with the double DIn NAVI but this car did not have that option. The first step was to measure the stock dash and temp unit to check the clearance of the units. It was then determined it would be too costly to buy a new Audi TEMP unit so we modified/sanded the factory edges till it slid lower down the center dash. The fit is impeccable and hardly noticeable by anyone. Once the temp unit was moved it gave us clearance to build the faceplate to hold the Eclipse AVN-5495 unit. Instead of using wood, an aluminum bezel was cnc machined for rigidity and powercoated black a clean look. The customer wanted interior accent lights and a way to turn his radar on/off so two custom switches were mounted into the bezel for control. MB Quart speakers were used in both front and rear doors to replace the stock speakers. A single JL 12w6 was installed in a custom box with both JL amps flanking the right and left of the sub. A trim board was built and hides all the wiring. One of the big objectives was to keep maximum trunk space and this setup is both clean and functional.
With most of the audio completed, red LED accents were done to the footwell and trunk areas for a bit of flash. The final audio system is both simple and clean. It hits hard and the owner will never get lost with the best NAVI on the market.
